Amazon Games has announced its most recent online partnership, disclosing plans to collaborate with NCSoft to release Throne and Liberty on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Series X|S for players in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan.
Initially conceived as a Lineage sequel, Throne and Liberty has gradually evolved into a unique franchise during its extended development period. The game joins Amazon's expanding collection of online games, which also features titles such as Lost Ark and New World.
Christoph Hartmann, Amazon Games' vice president, commended NCSoft and emphasized the company's commitment to online gaming in the future when announcing the partnership.
"Continuing to publish games that live and evolve over time is a crucial component of our strategy. Providing top-quality games from the industry's most skilled developers is a key aspect of our operations. The past year has given us valuable insights into launching and managing successful live-service games globally, and we're prepared to offer Throne and Liberty players an exceptional experience upon release," Hartmann stated.
Throne and Liberty has undergone multiple closed betas and faced several delays throughout its development process. The game will blend "narrative-driven adventure and action-packed combat" with "ever-changing geographical and environmental elements that impact gameplay," and will include both large-scale PvP and PvE battles.
In addition to Throne and Liberty, Amazon Games is also publishing Crystal Dynamics' upcoming Tomb Raider title and Bandai Namco Online's Blue Protocol. These efforts are part of the company's broader initiative to solidify its position as a formidable competitor in the gaming market.
While there were previous speculations that Throne and Liberty would launch in the first half of 2023, Amazon Games has not confirmed any release date information at the moment.
